I have people asking all the time, what are you eating, what should I buy when I go grocery shopping or what should I stock up on… so here’s a list that you can start with.

This list is not meant to be all-inclusive but it will get you started in the right direction:

Meats and Poultry

Deli Meats 

Seafood

  • Fish
  • Tunafish
  • Salmon – you’ll find some great recipes here
  • Scallops
  • Shrimp – here’s some great shrimp & zoodle recipes
  • Crab (be sure it is real and not fake crab which is FULL of carbs)

Dairy Products

  • Butter
  • Cheese
  • Cream Cheese
  • Eggs
  • Heavy cream
  • Sour cream
  • CarbMaster Yogurt or Greek yogurt; plain, full fat. Carb count should be less than 7 net carbs per serving
  • Carbmaster Milk – available at Kroger-affiliated stores
  • Almond Milk
  • Sugar Free Whipped Cream

Low carb vegetables

  • Bell peppers
  • Broccoli
  • Cabbage
  • Cauliflower
  • Cucumbers
  • Garlic
  • Leafy green vegetables
  • Lettuce (use the outside leaves instead of bread)
  • Scallions, Shallots – lower carb than onion
  • Sprouts for salads
  • Summer squash
  • Zucchini

Nuts and Seeds

  • Nuts: almonds, hazelnuts, pecans, walnuts,macadamias
  • Seeds: sunflower, pumpkin and sesame seeds

Fruits

  • Avocados
  • Berries; Strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, just about any fruit that has the word berry included in it.

Pantry Items 

  • Canned tuna, salmon, crab, shrimp, sardines, anchovies
  • Canned vegetables: green chiles, roasted red peppers, chipotle peppers, mushrooms, artichoke hearts, sun-dried tomatoes
  • Chicken and/or vegetable stock
  • Low-carb vegetables: green beans, greens, sauerkraut
  • Nut Butters
  • Sauces: Pasta sauce, pizza sauce and alfredo sauces
  • Tomato products: Sugar Free or low-carb tomatoes, sauce and paste

Condiments

  • Vinegars
  • Horseradish
  • Sugar-free dill pickles or relish
  • Sugar-Free and Reduced Sugar Catsup
  • Mayonnaise
  • Mustard
  • Lemon or Lime juice
  • Salsa
  • Soy sauce
  • Sugar-free salad dressing
  • Olives

Cooking & Baking Ingredients

Miscellaneous

  • Pork rinds and  Grated Parmesan Cheese for coatings instead of bread crumbs
