Last week I published an article dispelling the myth that you cannot eat cold cereal when following a low carb lifestyle. A number of you contacted me to ask if it is possible to enjoy hot cereals while dieting too. I am here to tell you YES!
Here’s some GREAT hot cereals you can enjoy on cold mornings that are all low carb so that you don’t blow your diet. First off there is this one that is so super simple you’ll wonder why you haven’t had it before:
- Stir all ingredients together.
- Place ¼ cup of mixture in a microwave-safe bowl with high sides.
- Add ½ cup water to the mix*
- Bring to a boil, stirring occasionally.
- Continue to stir and boil for at least two minutes, to thicken.
Recipe makes 4 servings. Store unused portion in refrigerator until use.
There are almost as many recipes for low carb hot cereal as there are imaginations to dream them up. Here are the best of the best and feel free to tweak them yourself!

Of course if you get in a pinch you can also buy low carb hot cereal. I have found that Netrition.com has the BEST prices I can find for all the low-carb items I cannot find locally. I keep a running list of what I want to order and then, using their super cheap $4.95 flat rate shipping I order about once a month or so. They have a GREAT high fiber hot cereal that comes in Apple Cinnamon, Butter Pecan, Strawberry and Vanilla Almond as well as plain.
So there you have it… you asked could you eat hot cereal and still stay low carb… well I guess I proved you can! ENJOY!
