...WHY to add FAT to LOSE Fat!
Bulletproof coffee, what is it and why are so many people on low carb diets drinking it daily? Does it help to lose weight? What’s the best way to make yours?
First off bodies not practicing a low carb way of eating burns sugars and carbs for energy. When you deprive your body of those it will then burn fat, whether fat from your meals, in this case drinks, or stored fat. Bulletproof coffee gives you some of that fat in a concise delicious drink. It also (and this is important when dieting) will fill you up for HOURS!
Have a cup with breakfast and you will not have any desire to snack until lunch! Is your downfall that you like to snack at night? Make yourself a decaf bulletproof coffee and sip on that! You will be amazed at how full it will make you feel!
While some will tell you that you have to use a specific coffee that is not true. You don’t even have to use coffee. Prefer hot tea? Drink Bulletproof tea, or low-carb hot chocolate in the winter months! Why hot? because you want the fats to stay liquid and if you iced your coffee you’d have to drink it awfully fast before those same fats would start to congeal and taste greasy. That would not make for a delicious drink!
I use refined coconut oil in mine so that I do not taste it at all… if you use unrefined coconut oil it will smell and taste of coconut. Not an unpleasant experience IF you want to taste coconut but I prefer to taste my food and drink, not my oil in my dishes.
I highly recommend the use of a small bullet-type blender to make your coffee. I tried it originally without owning one and hated the oil that would stay on top of the cup. I also tried a stick blender with the same results. Now I just keep the little Faberware single serving blender I bought at Walmart for $20 handy and I love making and drinking this delicious “diet aid!”
Here’s a very easy recipe that you can tweak however you would like:
- One cup coffee (tea or hot chocolate) of your choice
- 2 Tbsp butter
- 1 Large dollop coconut oil
- 1 Splash heavy whipping cream OR Sugar-Free coffee creamer
- Sugar-Free coffee syrup of your choice (Optional)
- Low-Carb sweetener of your choice (Optional)
- Brew your coffee.
- Put butter, oil, heavy whipping cream in a small blender.
- Add sweetener and syrup if desired.
- Pour brewed coffee into blender.
- Blend for 1 to 2 minutes until well blended and frothy.
- Serve immediately.
I buy my sugar-free syrups in the coffee aisle at Walmart. Those flavors I cannot find I order from Netrition.com. I order all my low carb and sugar free items that I cannot buy locally (and even some I can) from them! They have the lowest prices I have found and their super low flat rate shipping keeps the prices low!
My favorite bulletproof coffee is any Keurig K-cup of coffee I happen to have in the house paired with my Land O Lakes salted butter, some refined coconut oil ( I don’t measure, just grab a soup spoon out of the drawer and plop it into the blender) a splash of heavy whipping cream (high fat and VERY low carb) along with a little salted caramel or butterscotch sugar free syrup. It is a to-die-for latte-like coffee that is every bit as good as one I would buy from Starbucks!
